Black History Month 2025 – resources for churches

Black History Month (BHM) is an opportunity for all Christians in Britain and Ireland to celebrate the ongoing contributions that Black people have made on these shores.

From a Christian perspective, BHM is an excellent way of celebrating the way God has enabled Black women, men and children to use their God-given giftings to revitalise the Church in this country. Much like Britain and Ireland per se, the Church is a better place because of the contributions of Black people.

Also, what may have been the preserve of Black communities, is now the property of all communities. While BHM naturally resonates with Black communities, it undoubtedly belongs to everyone because it is British history, and as such, all should participate in this month-long activity.

These resources include a sermon, reflection, prayer, suggested Bible verses, hymns and songs, plus a directory of other useful resources.
