Our society is more diverse than ever before, especially in terms of religion. As Christians, how can we relate to people of other faiths without compromising our own beliefs? This is a question the Churches’ Forum on Inter Religious Relations seeks to explore by offering theological reflection and resources for member churches.
The forum serves as an ecumenical space for churches to share experiences and discuss contextual issues related to inter-religious relations. This is done through facilitating networking and information-sharing on a regular basis.
Resources produced by the Forum aim to equip member churches to engage collaboratively in the area of the churches’ relationship with other religions, where appropriate for their locality, across the four nations of Britain and Ireland.
Through the Forum the interfaith work of churches is supported and new interfaith work is initiated. Dialogue is an important step in overcoming misunderstandings that are often underlying in inter religious relations. The Forum reflects on theological issues related to churches’ engagement with people of other faiths in order to support churches to develop relationships of trust whilst being respectful of difference.
