Churches’ Refugee Network

As people of faith we are called love our neighbour as a way of living out our faith. The Churches Refugee Network (CRN) is a resource to equip member churches to do this with regards to our neighbours seeking asylum or being impacted by migration. The network enables us to be active in our understanding and response to issues linked to asylum, refugees and migration because of our belief in the inherent dignity of all people.

The network believes in the worth of every person regardless of their identity and so facilitates ecumenical engagement, of various levels, around the issue of asylum, identity and belonging. Raising awareness of the asylum system and the impact on those affected means that member churches are better equipped to engage in dialogue with people seeking asylum, those working to support them, and those who make and implement government policy in this area.

CRN advocates for change to the policies and processes governing how we respond to people fleeing suffering and seeking sanctuary. The network highlights the issue of racism on refugees and migrant communities and calls people of faith to take action on behalf of those experiencing harsh treatment and discrimination.

The network is committed to working ecumenically, across the four nations, on these issues and comes together to collaborate, share and coordinate working. It recognises the importance of working together on issues of value and respect because of the belief that we are created in the image of God and are all worthy of being treated with dignity.
