“Roots and Refuge”
Brother Johannes is a Monk of the Good Shepherd, and a member of the Catholic Worker. For more than twenty-three years, Johannes has lived in community with homeless and displaced people in Belgium, Calais and London. From 2015–2019, he worked in the Calais refugee camp, where he co-founded the Maria Skobtsova Refugee Safe House, offering sanctuary and support to those in transit. He continues to support people on the move through his volunteer work with Art Refuge in Calais.
