Churches Together in England (CTE) has produced a new document setting out a structure for how local churches can co-operate together, called A new framework for local unity in mission.
It is the result of two years effort by a working party, consultation with CTE’s member churches, and the responses to the consultation document A new framework for local ecumenism which was circulated in March 2015.
The report has been sent to CTE Member Churches and Intermediate Bodies for further deliberations. They have been asked to respond to CTE General Secretary, Revd Dr David Cornick, by 6 February 2017. A March 2017 Enabling Group meeting will then assess the responses and discern the way ahead.
It ‘may well prove to be one of the most significant practical ecumenical documents of our time’, says David Cornick, who commented ‘The future is exciting. God has not finished with us yet!’
