The General Assembly of the Christian Council of Asia is meeting in Jakarta this week. The theme is “living together in the household of God”.
The idea of living in God’s household sounds simple and in some ways it is; there are plenty of rooms, even some outdoor space, quiet places and noisy ones, but on a deeper level it is both encouraging and challenging. We have been encouraged to consider the household of God as the whole inhabited earth. And to see the household as being held together by some unseen but strong affinity, one in which God binds together in unselfish and unconditional love and not just a survival mode.
I find this quite compelling and I’m sure I shall reflect on this further.
Another advantage of meetings such as this is that it is possible to meet people from many parts of the region and a particular highlight for me was meeting up with Kan Bao Ping from the China Christian Council.
