London Hosting has an open evening on 18 January 2016 for anyone who is interested in helping refugees and migrants.
Many migrants and refugees find themselves, through no fault of their own, with no support or accommodation and no help to return to their home country. They may be in the UK with no entitlements to benefits, or ‘no recourse to public funds’, so local authorities and most homeless charities will not provide assistance.
If you have a spare room or space to offer, even temporarily, you will be able to find out more, such as:
- What is needed?
- What support is offered?
- What if something goes wrong?
- How long might someone need a room?
At the open evening you will hear from people who are hosting, and being hosted.
It takes place at Praxis, Pott Street, London E2 0EF with refreshments at 6pm and the start of the meeting at 6.30pm.
If you want to get involved but can’t host, you could:
- Help organise future meetings in your borough
- Volunteer with London Hosting
- Make a donation to the Destitution Fund to enable hosting
