An ecumenical writing group has written worship material for Creation Time 2016. Contributors come from the Church of Scotland, the Scottish Episcopal Church and the United Reformed Church (URC).
Followers of Jesus, Caring for Creation is this year’s theme, emphasising readings from the Gospel of Luke which appear in the Revised Common Lectionary in September:
Week 1 – Careful Planning Priorities (Luke 14: 25-33)
Week 3 – Caring Locally, Caring Globally (Luke 16:1-13)
A collection of resources for Protestant, Anglican, Orthodox and Catholic churches, and also interfaith settings. For 2016 the Season of Creation is a collaboration between the World Council of Churches (WCC), ACT Alliance, Global Catholic Climate Movement, the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network and GreenFaith.
The Season of Creation website includes a listing of ecumenical resources, advice on organising a service and other courses of action.
Canon Vicky Johnson of Ely Cathedral has curated a set of resources which have been commended by the Church of England’s Environment Task Group.
Vicky says ‘The resources include material that works in the context of both traditional Anglican liturgy and more informal worship, as well as material for all-age worship, and more general material for prayer, biblical study and reflection.’
You can find more details and links to the Church of England’s Creationtide resources on the Church of England website.
