The Church of England has published a letter sent to the British Prime Minister in early September signed by 84 bishops calling for an increase in the number of Syrian refugees being resettled in this country ‘to a minimum of 50,000′ over the next five years.
The Bishops also offer help from the Church of England in encouraging their churches to provide welcome, housing and foster care to refugees as well as to support the Government in its ongoing efforts.
You can read the Bishops’ letter in full on the Church of England website.
The Church of England website also lists the responses to the letter so far published in the media.
In a video on The Guardian website, the Bishop of Manchester, David Walker, says the European migrant crisis is ‘a moral matter’ not political.
