A consultation of 35 bishops and Church leaders from 20 countries, on 29 October 2015 in Munich, Germany, will discuss the international refugee crisis.
The World Council of Churches (WCC) has invited representatives from churches in the most affected regions including the Middle East and Africa, and from most of the Church families in Europe: Orthodox, Catholics, Lutherans, Reformed and Methodist. There will also be representatives from ecumenical organisations and Church-based humanitarian and refugee organisations.
The one-day consultation will address how Christians in the different churches in Europe, the Middle East and Africa can deal appropriately with the challenges facing the refugees, as well for the people living in the receiving countries.
It will also question how the churches can express themselves as far as possible with one voice in conversations with governments and in public declarations.
In order to enable an open exchange of views, the consultations are not open to the public.
