Get prepared for Church Action on Poverty Sunday, taking place on 7 February 2016. The theme is Bread Broken for All: Securing the Right to Food.
Food is a gift from God, but in the UK today thousands of people are denied access to that gift by injustices that leave them destitute.
Churches play a vital role in sharing food with those who need it – and speaking out to ensure that nobody goes without.
On Church Action on Poverty Sunday, christians are encouraged to hold a soup lunch in church, homes or the community; share stories demonstrating the reality of poverty and hunger; and to reflect on food as a gift from God using prayers, Bible readings and hymns.
Resources are available to download from the Church Action on Poverty website. The resource pack includes advice on holding a soup lunch, other ways to raise funds, video clips with stories of those facing food poverty, plus worship and prayer resources.
